OBESITY
Many complications
of childbirth are increased by maternal obesity. Maternal obesity is
associated with an increased risk of stillbirth, although the mechanisms
to explain this association are not clear.0701
Confidential enquiries into maternal deaths has shown that 35% of the all women who died were obese; this is 50% more than in the general population.
In obese women with GDM, pregnancy outcome is compromised regardless of the level of obesity or treatment modality.0801
