It In a prospective randomized study 38 women with idiopathic hirsutism or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) received 2.5 mg of finasteride every day or every 3 days. Intermittent low-dose administration of finasteride was as effective as continuous administration in reducing hirsutism score and was accompanied by a lower incidence of side effects.
